    7. Functions Customized for Various Subjects and Purposes
    Applicable modes: 
    You can display the recording screen in black and white. This function is convenient when 
    a black and white screen will make it easier to set focus with  Manual Focus.
    Settings: [ON]/[OFF]
    •
    Even if you use the HDMI output during recording, this function  will not work for the connected 
    device.
    •Recorded images will not be affected.
    Recording while monitoring camera images
    Applicable modes: 
    When using the HDMI output, you can take pictures while 
    monitoring the camera image on a TV, etc.
    Refer to  P341 on how to connect with TV by using HDMI 
    micro cable.
    •
    The camera image is not output to the TV during motion picture 
    recording.
    ∫ Switching the information displayed
    You can change the display shown during HDMI output using [HDMI  Info Display (Rec)] 
    (P79)  in [TV Connection] on the [Setup] menu.
    •
    When using the Auto Focus Mode [ ] or MF assist, the screen cann ot be enlarged in 
    windowed mode.
    •[Aspect Ratio] in the [Rec] menu is fixed to [16:9].•Electronic sounds and electronic shutter sounds are muted.•If you set up a Wi-Fi connection while using the HDMI output, n o image will be displayed on the 
    camera monitor.
    •The scene selection screen in Scene Guide Mode is not output th rough the HDMI connection.•Images are not output through the HDMI connection in panorama p icture recording.
    •When recording with the 4K Photo function, it is not possible to use the HDMI output.

    Optical Image Stabilizer
    Applicable modes: 
    The camera detects jitter during recording and automatically corrects it, so you can record 
    images with reduced jitter.
    •
    When using an interchangeable lens with O.I.S. switch (such as  H-FS14140), stabilizer 
    function is activated if the O.I.S. switch of the lens is set t o [ON]. ([ ] is set at the time of 
    purchase.)
    ∫ Setting the Stabilizer in the [Rec] menu
    1Select the menu. (P63)
    2Press  3/4 to select the item and then press [MENU/SET].
    •The [Stabilizer] feature is only available if the lens you are  using has an internal stabilizer.
    •Exit the menu after it is set.
    A lens which supports the stabilizer function is required.
    •The interchangeable lens (H-FS1442A/H-FS45150/H-FS14140) suppor ts the Optical Image 
    Stabilizer function.

    ([Normal]) Vertical and horizontal shake are compensated for.
    []
    ([Panning])Camera shake is corrected for up/down movements.
    This mode is ideal for panning (a method of taking 
    pictures which involves turning the camera to track the 
    movements of a subject which continues to move in a 
    fixed direction).
    [OFF]
    [Stabilizer] does not work.
    (This can be selected only when using a lens without the [O.I.S
    .] switch.)

    •It is recommended to disable the Optical Image Stabilizer when using a tripod. [ ] is 
    displayed on the screen at that time.
    •We recommend taking pictures with  the viewfinder when panning in [ ].
    Not available in these cases:
    •
    [ ] is not available in Panorama Shot Mode.•The stabilizer function may not be effective in the following c ases.
    Be careful of camera jitter when you press the shutter button.
    –When there is a lot of jitter–When the zoom magnification is high
    –When using the Digital Zoom–When taking pictures while following a moving subject–When the shutter speed becomes slower to take pictures indoors or in dark places
    •The panning effect in [ ] is more difficult to achieve in the fo llowing cases.–In brightly lit places such as in broad daylight on a summer ’s day–When the shutter speed is faster than 1/100th of a second
    –When you move the camera too slowly because the subject is movi ng slowly (The 
    background will not become a blur)
    –When the camera does not keep up with the subject satisfactoril y
    Preventing jitter (camera shake)
    When the jitter alert [ ] appears, use [Stabilizer], a tripod, t he self-timer (P201) or the 
    remote shutter (DMW-RSL1: optional)  (P363).
    •
    Shutter speed will be slower particularly in the following case s. Keep the camera still from the 
    moment the shutter button is pressed until the picture appears  on the screen.
    We recommend using a tripod.
    –Slow Sync.–Slow Sync./Red-Eye Reduction–[Clear Nightscape]/[Cool Night Sky]/[Warm Glowing Nightscape]/[ Artistic Nightscape]/

    Applicable modes: 
    You can zoom-in to make people and objects appear closer or zoom-out to record 
    landscapes, etc.

    The Extended Tele Conversion enables you to take pictures that are further enlarged 
    without deteriorating the picture quality.

    Set the picture size to [M] or [S] (picture sizes indicated with  ), and set the quality to 
    [ A ]  or  [ ›].

    •This can be used only when recording pictures.

    •The following step is an example in which [Zoom Control] is ass igned to [Fn1].

    The zoom operation is terminated when [Fn1] is pressed again or  a certain amount of time

    •When using an interchangeable lens that supports the power zoom , Extended Tele Conversion

    •When the Extended Tele Conversion is used, angle of view for still pictures will be different from 
    the angle of view for motion pictures because the zoom factor i s different between them.
    Angle of view for recording can be checked beforehand by matchi ng the [Rec Area] (P243) 
    setting to the mode you wish to record in.
    •If you assign [Ex. Tele Conv.] to [Fn Button Set]  (P70) in the [Custom] menu, you can display 
    the Extended Tele Conversion setting screen for both pictures a nd motion pictures by pressing 
    the assigned function button. While this screen is displayed, y ou can change the [Picture Size] 
    setting by pressing [DISP.].
    Not available in these cases:
    •
    This function is not available in the following cases:–[Handheld Night Shot] (Scene Guide Mode)–[Toy Effect]/[Toy Pop] (Creative Control Mode)–When [Quality] is set to [ ], [ ] or [ ]–When [Burst Rate] is set to [SH]–When recording 4K photos
    –When [HDR] is set to [ON]–When using [Multi Exp.]–When the motion picture size is set to [4K] in [Rec Quality]–When the image of the camera is output through the HDMI connect ion (except for Creative 
    Video Mode)
    Applicable modes: 
    Although the image quality deteriorates every time you zoom in further, you can zoom in 
    up to four times the original zoom magnification.
    (Continuous zooming is not possible.)
    •
    When using the Digital Zoom, we recommend using a tripod and th e self-timer (P201) for taking pictures.•Those menu items are shared by the [Rec] menu and the [Motion P icture] menu. When the 
    setting for either of the two is changed, the setting for the o ther is also changed.
    Not available in these cases:
    •
    This function is not available in the following cases:–[Toy Effect]/[Toy Pop]/[Miniature Effect] (Creative Control Mod e)–When using [Multi Exp.]

    Applicable modes: 
    Sets the screen display and lens operations when using an interchangeable lens that is 
    compatible with power zoom (electrically operated zoom).
    This may only be selected when using a lens that is compatible with power zoom 
    (electrically operated zoom).
    •
    The interchangeable lenses (H-FS1442A/H-FS45150/H-FS14140) are  not compatible with 
    power zoom.

    Changing the settings for a power zoom lens

    Length] When you zoom, the focal distance is 
    displayed and you can confirm the zoom 
    position.

    H-FS14140), you can only operate the Extended Tele Conversion f or pictures by setting [Ex.

    Taking pictures by using the flash
    Applicable modes: 
    ∫Open/Close the built-in flash
    Taking a picture using the flash becomes possible by opening 
    the built-in flash.
    A To open the flash
    Press the flash open button.
    BTo close the flash
    Press the flash until it clicks.
    •Forcibly closing the flash can damage the camera.
    •Be sure to close the built-in flash when not in use.•The flash setting is fixed to [ Œ] while the flash is closed.
    •Be careful not to catch a finger when closing a flash bulb.
