    •This phenomenon occurs when the camera is trying to record with highly accurate focus at a 
    reduced Auto Focus speed, and is not a malfunction. 
    •This is characteristic of MOS sensors which serve as the camera ’s pickup sensors.
    This is not a malfunction.
    When a subject moves across the image very fast, the subject ma y appear slightly distorted. 
    •When noticeable flicker or striping is seen under lighting such as a fluorescent or LED lighting 
    fixture, you can reduce the flicker or striping by setting up [ Flkr Decrease] (P255) and fixing the 
    shutter speed. It is possible to select a shutter speed from [1/50], [1/60], [1/100], or [1/120].
    You can set the shutter speed manually in the Creative Video Mo de. (P126)
    •With recording in a quiet environment, depending on the lenses  used, the sound of aperture 
    and focus actions may be recorded in motion pictures.
    Focus operation can be set to [OFF]  in [Continuous AF]  (P248).
    •Use of [Silent Operation] is recommended if you are concerned about operational sounds.

    •While recording motion pictures,  plugging the aperture of the microphone with a finger may 
    reduce the level of audio recording or audio may not record at  all. Also be careful because the 
    operation sound of lenses can easily be recorded at this time.
    Since motion picture recording stops only after you press the m otion picture button, the 
    sound of the operation may be noticeable. If the sound bothers  you, try the following:
    >Divide the last part of the moti on picture using [Video Divide]  (P279)  in the [Playback] 
    menu.
    The motion picture may not be divided near the very end of it.  To avoid this, record 
    approximately 3 seconds longer.
    > Set the camera to Creative Video Mode, and use a shutter remote  control (optional) to 
    record motion pictures.  (P363)
    Sometimes it is difficult to focus with Auto Focus when recordi ng 4K motion 
    pictures.
    Striping or flicker appears under lighting such as a fluorescen t or LED lighting 
    fixture.
    The subject appears distorted.
    In motion pictures, abnormal clicking and buzzing sounds are re corded.
    The recorded sound is very quiet.
    An operation sound is recorded at the end of a motion picture.

    •Depending on the lens used, picture may be warped slightly or you may see colors along the 
    edge depending on the zoom factor, due to the characteristics of the lens. Also, the peripherals 
    of the image might look warped because the perspective is enhanced when the wide angle is 
    used. This is not a malfunction.
    •The Optical Image Stabilizer function of the interchangeable le ns (H-FS1442A/H-FS45150) 
    only works correctly with supported cameras. > When older Panasonic digital cameras (DMC-GF1/DMC-GH1/DMC-G1) a re used, 
    [Stabilizer] in the [Rec] menu cannot be set to [OFF].

    > When using this lens with another make of digital cameras, the  Optical Image Stabilizer 
    function will not work.

    Lens
    Recorded image may be warped, or nonexistent color is surroundi ng the 
    subject.
    When the lens is attached to another digital camera, stabilizer  function cannot be 
    turned off or stabilizer function does not work.

    •Is the flash closed?> Open the flash.  (P230)
    •When the electronic shutter is used, the flash is not activated . (P179)
    > Set [Electronic Shutter] to [OFF].
    •When [Silent Mode]  is set to  [ON] , the flash is not activated.  (P212)
    > Set [Silent Mode] to [OFF].
    •(Except for when [Firing Mode] in [Flash] is set to [MANUAL]) T he flash is activated 2 times. 
    The interval between the first and second flash is longer when  Red-Eye Reduction (P234) is 
    set so the subject should not move until the second flash is ac tivated.
    •If no operations are performed during the set time period, [Auto LVF/Monitor Off] (P77) is 
    activated, and the Monitor/Viewfinder turns off.
    •When an object or your hand is positioned near the eye sensor,  the Monitor display may switch 
    to the Viewfinder display.  (P57)
    •Check [Monitor Luminance] setting.  (P76)•Perform [Monitor Display]/[Viewfinder].  (P76)
    •This occurs due to the aperture of the lens changing when the s hutter button is pressed 
    halfway, or when the brightness of the subject changes. This is  not a malfunction.
    •Does the picture appear on the viewfinder?
    > Press [LVF] to switch to monitor display.  (P57)
    •Is the monitor switched off?
    > Switch the display by pressing [DISP.].  (P51)
    •It is only displayed on the monitor when the camera is connecte d to a PC or printer.
    Flash
    The flash is not activated.
    The flash is activated 2 times.
    Monitor/Viewfinder
    The Monitor/Viewfinder turns off although the camera is turned  on.
    The Monitor/Viewfinder is too bright or dark.
    It may flicker for an instant or the brightness of the screen may change 
    significantly for an instant.
    The picture is not displayed on the monitor.
    Monitor and viewfinder do not switch when [LVF] is pressed.

    •This is not a malfunction.
    These pixels do not affect the recorded pictures.
    •In dark places, noise may appear to maintain the brightness of the monitor.
    •Viewfinder of this unit adopts OLED. Screen burn-in may occur on the screen/viewfinder when 
    a same image is displayed for a long period of time, but it does not affect the recorded images.
    •Being a characteristic of the viewfinder of this unit, this phenomenon is not a problem. 
    Recorded images are not affected.
    •You can display the pictures wit hout being rotated when [Rotate  Disp.] (P284) is set to [OFF].•You can rotate pictures with the [Rotate] function.  (P284)
    •Is the card inserted?•Is there a picture on the card?•Is this a folder or picture which was processed in the PC?
    If it is, it cannot be played back by this unit.
    > It is recommended to use the “ PHOTOfunSTUDIO ” software in the DVD (supplied) to write 
    pictures from PC to card.
    •Has [Playback Mode] been set for playback?
    > Change to [Normal Play].  (P269)
    Black, white, red, blue and green dots appear on the Monitor/Vi ewfinder.
    Noise appears on the monitor.
    Unevenly bright parts or irregular colors appear on the Viewfinder.
    The color tone of the viewfinder differs from the actual tone.
    Playback
    The picture being played back is not rotated, or is rotated in an unexpected 
    direction, when displayed.
    The picture is not played back.
    There are no recorded pictures.

    •Is this a non-standard picture, a picture which has been edited using a PC or a picture which 
    was taken by another make of digital camera?
    •Did you remove the battery immediately after picture-taking or did you take the picture using a 
    battery with a low remaining charge? > To delete such pictures, make a backup of the data and format t he card (P33).
    •Is something covering up the speaker?  (P18)
    •Is the clock in the camera set properly?  (P41)
    •Images edited on a PC or images recorded on other cameras might  display a different date to 
    the recorded date during the Calendar Playback.
    •Is it a picture that has been recorded with other equipment?
    In such cases, these pictures may be displayed with a deteriora ted picture quality.
    •When Red-Eye Removal ([ ] or [ ]) is performed, red parts may be  corrected to black.
    > It is recommended to take a pictures with the flash closed, Fla sh Mode set to [‰], or 
    [Red-Eye Removal] set to [OFF].  (P234)
    •The picture quality or sound quality of recorded motion picture s may be deteriorated even when 
    these are played back with the compatible devices. Also, record ing information may not be 
    displayed correctly.
    The folder number and the file number are displayed as [—] and  the screen turns 
    black.
    Playback sound or operation sound is too low.
    Images with different date as recorded date are played back in  the Calendar 
    Playback.
    White round spots like soap bubbles appear on the recorded picture.
    •
    If you take a picture with the flash in a dark place or indoors , white 
    round spots may appear on the picture caused by the flash refle cting of 
    particles of dust in the air. This is not a malfunction.
    [Thumbnail is displayed] appears on the screen.
    Red part of the recorded image has changed color to black.
    Motion pictures recorded with this model cannot be played back  on other 
    equipment.

    ∫General tips for using a Wi-Fi connection
    •Use within the communication range of the device to be connecte d.•Is any device, such as microwave oven, cordless phone, etc., that uses 2.4 GHz frequency 
    operated nearby?
    > Radio waves may get interrupted when used simultaneously. Use t hem sufficiently away 
    from the device.
    •When the battery indicator is flashing red, the connection with other equipment may not start or 
    the connection may be disrupted.
    (A message such as [Communication error] is displayed.)
    •If you place the camera on a metal table or shelf, the radio wa ves may be adversely affected. In 
    such cases, you may not be able to establish a connection. Move  the camera away from the 
    metal surface.
    ∫ About a wireless access point
    •Check if the wireless access point to connect is in operating s tate.•The camera may not display or connect to a wireless access poin t depending on the radio 
    wave condition. > Move this unit closer to the wireless access point.
    > Remove the obstacles between this unit and the wireless access  point.
    > Change the direction of this unit.
    > Change the location and orientation of the wireless access poin t.
    > Perform the [Manual Input].  (P330)
    •It may not display even if the radio waves exist depending on t he setting of the wireless access 
    point.
    > Check the settings of the wireless access point.
    > When the network SSID of the wirel ess access point is set not to broadcast, the wireless 
    access point may not be detected. Enter the network SSID to sta rt the connection (P330) or 
    enable the SSID broadcast of the wireless access point.
    •Connection types and security setting methods are different dep ending on the wireless access 
    point. (Refer to the operating instructions of the wireless acc ess point.)
    •Is the 5 GHz/2.4 GHz switchable wireless access point connected t o other equipment using the 
    5 GHz band? > The use of a wireless access point that can use 5 GHz/2.4 GHz sim ultaneously is 
    recommended. It cannot be used simultaneously with this camera  if it is not compatible.
    •It may take longer time to connect depending on the Wi-Fi connection setting of the 
    smartphone, but it is not a malfunction.
    Wi-Fi function
    A Wi-Fi connection cannot be established.
    Radio waves get disconnected.
    Wireless access point is not displayed.
    It takes long time every time to connect to a smartphone.

    •From the Wi-Fi setting menu on the smartphone, turn off and then on the Wi-Fi function.
    •Check the information in the login screen of “LUMIX CLUB”.

    •Service user registration for the “LUMIX CLUB” is not possible in the environment without a 
    wireless access point.
    •Sending may fail depending on the operational status of the AV device. Also, sending may take 
    a while.
    •When the firewall of the OS, security software, etc. is enabled , connecting to the PC may not 
    be possible.
    •Some OS versions, including Windows 8, use two types of account s: a local account and a 
    Microsoft account. > Be sure to use the user name and password for the local account .
    If you haven’t set up a local account, please create one.
    •The default workgroup name is set to “WORKGROUP”. If you change d the workgroup name, 
    the PC will not be recognized.
    In [Change Workgroup Name] in [PC Connection] of the [Wi-Fi Set up] menu, change the 
    workgroup name to that of the PC you are connecting to. Refer t o P337  for details.
    •Please confirm login name and password are correctly typed.
    •When the system time of Mac computer or Windows PC connected to  a camera differs severely 
    from that of the camera, the camera cannot be connected to the  computer or PC in some OSs.
    > Please confirm [Clock Set] and [World Time] of the camera match es with time, date and 
    time zone in Windows PC or Mac computer. When both settings do  not match severely, 
    please match them.
    This unit is not displayed in the Wi-Fi setting screen of the s martphone.
    I have forgotten the login ID or password for the “LUMIX CLUB”.
    I do not have a wireless access point at my home, but I would l ike to perform 
    service user registration of the “LUMIX CLUB”.
    I cannot send images to an AV device.
    Images cannot be transmitted to a PC.
    When I try to set up a Wi-Fi connection with a Windows 8 PC, my  user name and 
    password are not recognized, so I cannot connect to the PC.
    The PC is not recognized when I use a Wi-Fi connection. The cam era cannot be 
    connected to PC via Wi-Fi connection.

    •Confirm that the login information (login ID/user name/email address/password) is correct.•Web service server or the network may be busy.
    > Try again after a while.
    > Check the site of the web service you are sending the image to.
    •Is the size of the image too large?
    > Reduce the image size at [Size]  (P336), and then send.
    > Transmit after dividing the motion picture with [Video Divide]  (P279).
    •It may take longer time to transmit when distance to the wirele ss access point is far.
    > Transmit closer to the wireless access point.
    •Upload may not complete when it is disconnected while transmitting the image.•It may take some time after uploading the image to be reflected  in the web service depending 
    on the status of the server. > Wait for a while and try again.
    •You can check the transmission status on the web service link s ettings by logging into “LUMIX 
    CLUB”.
    •The images in the web service cannot be saved (downloaded) to t his unit.
    > Do not delete the uploaded images, and make a backup of them.
    •The images uploaded to the web service cannot be displayed or d eleted by this unit.
    > Perform the task using a smartphone or a PC.
    •Image cannot be transmitted when the battery indicator is flash ing red.•Is the size of the image too large?
    > Reduce the image size at [Size]  (P336), and then send.
    > Transmit after dividing the motion picture with [Video Divide]  (P279).
    •File format of the motion picture that can be sent differs depe nding on the destination. (P334)•Capacity or number of images in the web service is full.
    > Login to “LUMIX CLUB”, and check the status of the destination on the web service link 
    settings.
    •The settings stored in the camera may be deleted depending on t he type of repair.
    > Always make a copy of important settings.
    Images cannot be transmitted to the web service.
    It takes time to transmit an image to the web service.
    The image that was supposed to have uploaded to the web service  is not there.
    I would like to return the image in the web service to the camera.
    I cannot display or delete the images uploaded to the web service by this unit.
    Transmission of the image fails midway. Some images cannot be t ransmitted.
    Your “LUMIX CLUB” login ID and password were deleted after send ing the 
    camera in to be repaired.

    •Execute the [Reset Wi-Fi Settings] in the [Setup] menu. (P81)
    However, all the information you have set on the [Wi-Fi Setup]  menu will be reset. (excluding 
    [LUMIX CLUB] )
    •Is the camera connected to the TV correctly?  (P341)
    > Set the TV input to external input mode.
    •Check [TV Aspect] setting.  (P78)•Depending on the TV model, the pi ctures may be extended horizontally or vertically or they 
    may be displayed with their edges cut off.
    •Are you trying to play back the motion pictures by directly ins erting the card in the card slot of 
    the TV?
    > Connect the camera to the TV with the AV  cable (optional), or w ith the HDMI micro cable, 
    and then play back the motion pictures on the camera.  (P341)
    •When an AV cable (optional) or an HDMI micro cable is connected , sound is not output from the 
    camera.
    •Is it connected properly with the HDMI micro cable?  (P341)
    •Is the [VIERA Link] on this unit set to [ON]? (P79)
    > If the input channel does not switch automatically, use the rem ote control for the TV to 
    switch it.
    > Check the VIERA Link setting on the connected device.
    > Turn this unit off and on.
    > Set [HDAVI Control] to [Off] on the TV and then turn it back to  [On].
    (Refer to the operating instructions of the TV for details.)
    •Is the camera recognized by the PC correctly? > Set to [PC] in [USB Mode].  (P77, 348)
    > Turn this unit off and on.
    I have forgotten the password for the Wi-Fi.
    TV, PC and printer
    The picture does not appear on the television.
    The picture is not displayed fully on the TV.
    The display areas on the TV screen and the camera’s monitor are  different.
    The motion pictures cannot be played back on a TV.
    Sound is not output from the speaker of the camera.
    VIERA Link does not work.
    Cannot communicate with the PC.

    •Disconnect the USB connection cable. Connect it again while the card is inserted in the 
    camera.
    •If there are two or more USB terminal on a single PC, try conne cting the USB connection cable 
    to another USB terminal.
    •Check if your PC is compatible with SDXC memory cards.

    •A message prompting to format the card may be displayed when co nnecting, but do not format.
    •If the [Access] displayed on the monitor does not disappear, disconnect the USB connection 
    cable after turning this unit off.
    •Pictures cannot be printed using a printer that does not suppor t PictBridge.
    > Set to [PictBridge(PTP)] in [USB Mode].  (P77, 351)
    •When using a printer with a Cropping or borderless printing function, cancel this function before 
    printing.
    (For details, refer to the operating instructions for the print er.)
    •When you order photo studios to print pictures, ask the photo s tudio if the 16:9 pictures can be 
    printed.
    •Since aspect ratio of a panorama picture differs from normal pi ctures, it may not always be 
    possible to print it correctly.
    > Please use a printer that supports panorama pictures.
    (For details, please see the operating instructions of your pri nter.)
    > We recommend using the “ PHOTOfunSTUDIO ” software on the DVD (su pplied) to adjust 
    the size of the still picture to the print paper size.
    •Depending on the lens you attach, it may move inside and create  a sound. This is not a 
    malfunction.
    •This is the noise of the Dust Reduction Function working  (P403); it is not a malfunction.
    The card is not recognized by the PC.
    The card is not recognized by the PC.
    (SDXC memory card is used.)
    The picture cannot be printed when the camera is connected to a printer.
    The ends of the pictures are cut at printing.
    The panorama picture is not printing correctly.
    Others
    When I shake the camera, I hear a rattling sound from the attac hed lens.
    The camera makes a noise when this unit is turned on.
