    							Changingthepowerstateforagroupofservers
    TheVirtualPowerButtonsectionontheGroupPowerpagedisplaysasummaryofthecurrent
    powerstateofthegroupedservers,includingthetotalnumberofserversthatareintheON,OFF,
    orResetstate.TheSystemPowersummaryindicatesthestateoftheserverpowerwhenthepage
    isfirstopened.UsethebrowserrefreshfeaturetoupdatetheSystemPowerinformation.
    Tochangethepowerstateforagroupofservers:
    1.NavigatetotheiLOFederation→GroupPowerpage.
    2.SelectagroupfromtheSelectedGroupmenu.
    Thegroupedserversarelistedbypowerstatewithacounterthatshowsthetotalnumberof
    serversineachstate.
    Alloftheserversintheselectedgroupwillbeaffectedbythechangesyoumakeonthispage.
    3.Dooneofthefollowing:
    •TochangethepowerstateforserversthatareintheONorResetstate,clickoneofthe
    followingbuttonsontheleftsideofthepage:
    ◦MomentaryPress—Thesameaspressingthephysicalpowerbutton.
    Someoperatingsystemsmightbeconfiguredtoinitiateagracefulshutdownaftera
    momentarypress,ortoignorethisevent.HPrecommendsusingsystemcommands
    tocompleteagracefuloperatingsystemshutdownbeforeyouattempttoshutdown
    byusingtheVirtualPowerButton.
    ◦PressandHold—Thesameaspressingthephysicalpowerbuttonfor5secondsand
    thenreleasingit.
    Theserversintheselectedgrouparepoweredoffasaresultofthisoperation.Using
    thisoptionmightcircumventagracefuloperatingsystemshutdown.
    ThisoptionprovidestheACPIfunctionalitythatsomeoperatingsystemsimplement.
    Theseoperatingsystemsbehavedifferently,dependingonashortpressorlong
    press.

    							◦Reset—Forcestheserversintheselectedgrouptowarm-boot:CPUsandI/Oresources
    arereset.Usingthisoptioncircumventsagracefuloperatingsystemshutdown.
    ◦ColdBoot—Immediatelyremovespowerfromtheserversintheselectedgroup.
    Processors,memory,andI/Oresourceslosemainpower.Theserverswillrestart
    afterapproximately6seconds.Usingthisoptioncircumventsagracefuloperating
    systemshutdown.
    •TochangethepowerstateforserversthatareintheOFFstate,clicktheMomentaryPress
    buttonontherightsideofthepage.
    NOTE:ThePressandHold,Reset,andColdBootoptionsarenotavailableforservers
    thatareintheOFFstate.
    Aconfirmationdialogboxopens.
    4.ClickOKtocontinue.
    iLOdisplaysaprogressbarwhilethegroupedserversrespondtotheVirtualPowerButton
    push.Theprogressbarindicatesthenumberofserversthatsuccessfullyprocessedthe
    command.
    TheCommandResultssectiondisplaysthecommandstatusandresults,includingerrormessages
    relatedtothepowerstatechange.
    ViewingserversaffectedbytheVirtualPowerButton
    TheAffectedSystemstableprovidesthefollowingdetailsabouttheserversthatwillbeaffectedby
    theVirtualPowerButtonaction:
    •ServerName—Theservernamedefinedbythehostoperatingsystem.
    •ServerPower—Theserverpowerstate(ONorOFF).
    •UIDIndicator—ThestateoftheUIDLED.TheUIDLEDhelpsyouidentifyandlocateaserver,
    especiallyinhigh-densityrackenvironments.ThepossiblestatesareUIDON,UIDOFF,and
    UIDBLINK.
    •iLOHostname—ThefullyqualifiednetworknameassignedtotheiLOsubsystem.Clickthelink
    intheiLOHostnamecolumntoopentheiLOwebinterfacefortheserver.
    •IPAddress—ThenetworkIPaddressoftheiLOsubsystem.ClickthelinkintheIPAddress
    columntoopentheiLOwebinterfacefortheserver.
    ClickNextorPrevioustoviewmoreserversinthelist.
    ConfiguringiLOFederationgrouppowersettings
    TheGroupPowerSettingsfeatureenablesyoutosetdynamicpowercapsforthegroupedservers.
    WhenusingtheAutomaticGroupPowerCappingfeature,notethefollowing:
    •Whenagrouppowercapisset,thegroupedserverssharepowerinordertostaybelowthe
    powercap.Morepowerisallocatedtobusyserversandlesspowerisallocatedtoservers
    thatareidle.
    •Thepowercapsthatyousetforagroupoperateconcurrentlywiththepowercapsthatyou
    cansetonthePowerSettingspageforanindividualserver.
    •Whenapowercapisset,theaveragepowerreadingofthegroupedserversmustbeator
    belowthepowercapvalue.
    •IfyouwanttoconfigurepowercappingsettingsforaniLOFederationgroup,ensurethateach
    memberofthegrouphasgrantedtheConfigureiLOSettingsprivilegetothegroup.Formore
    informationaboutprivileges,see“ConfiguringiLOFederation”(page52).

    							•Whenagrouppowercapisset,youmightseeanunexpectedsession(withtheIPaddress
    127.0.0.1)intheActiveSessionslistontheiLOOverviewpageandintheiLOEventLog.
    ThistemporarysessioniscreatedbytheAutomaticGroupPowerCappingfeaturewhenit
    obtainsthedatathatisrequiredtomaintainthepowercap.Youcanignorethissession.It
    willberemovedfromtheActiveSessionslistwithinaminute.
    •AlicenseisrequiredifyouwanttomakechangesontheGroupPowerSettingspage.For

    •UsethePowerCapThresholdsasguidelinesforconfiguringthepowercapvalue.
    MaximumPowerCap—Themaximumpoweravailablefortheserversinagroup.The
    serversinagroupmustnotexceedthisvalue.

    ◦MinimumHigh-PerformanceCap—Themaximumpowerthattheserversinagroupuse
    intheircurrentconfiguration.Apowercapsettothisvaluedoesnotaffectserver
    performance.
    ◦MinimumPowerCap—Theminimumpowerthattheserversinagroupuse.Apowercap
    settothisvaluereducestheserverpowerusagetotheminimum,whichresultsinserver
    performancedegradation.
    •ThePowerCapValuesectionallowsyoutoconfigurethepowercappingsettings.For
    instructions,see“ConfiguringAutomaticGroupPowerCappingsettings”(page194).
    TheCurrentStatesectionshowsthecurrentpowerconsumptionforallserversintheselectediLO
    Federationgroup.
    •PresentPowerReading—Thecurrentpowerreadingforallserversinagroup.
    •PresentPowerCap—Thecurrentpowercapvalueforallserversinagroup.Thisvalueis0if
    apowercapisnotconfigured.
    TheGroupPowerAllocationsforthissystemsectionliststhegroupmembershipsofthelocaliLO
    system,andthepowercapvaluesconfiguredbyeachlistedgroup.

    BTU/hr.WhenvaluesaredisplayedinBTU/hr,clickShowvaluesinWattstochangethe
    displaytowatts.
    5.ClickApply.
    UsingtheiLOFederationGroupFirmwareUpdatefeature
    TheGroupFirmwareUpdatefeatureenablesyoutoupdatethefirmwareofmultipleserversfrom
    asystemrunningtheiLOwebinterface.
    AlicenseisrequiredifyouwanttomakechangesontheGroupFirmwareUpdatepage.Formore
    informationaboutiLOlicensing,seethefollowingwebsite:http://www.hp.com/go/ilo/licensing.
    Thisfeatureallowsyoutodothefollowing:
    •Viewthenumberofserverswitheachsupportedfirmwareversion.Thepercentageofthetotal
    numberofserverswiththelistedfirmwareversionisalsodisplayed.
    •Viewtheflashstatusforthegroupedservers.Thepercentageofthetotalnumberofservers
    withthelistedflashstatusisalsodisplayed.
    •ViewtheTPMstatusforthegroupedserversintheOptionROMMeasuringsection.The
    percentageofthetotalnumberofserverswiththelistedTPMstatusisalsodisplayed.
