    RebootingiLOwiththeserverUIDbutton
    TheUIDbuttononProLiantGen9servers(ifpresent)canbeusedtoinitiateamanualrebootof
    iLO.
    TherearetwotypesofiLOreboots:
    •GracefuliLOreboot—AniLOrebootisinitiatedbytheiLOfirmware.Tousethisfeature,press
    andholdtheUIDbuttonfor5to10seconds.
    TheUIDbutton/LEDflashesblue4Hz/cyclepersecondtoindicatethatagracefuliLOreboot
    isinprogress.
    InitiatingagracefuliLOrebootdoesnotmakeanyconfigurationchanges,butendsallactive
    connectionstoiLO.Ifafirmwarefileuploadisinprogress,itisterminated.Ifafirmwareflash
    isinprogress,youcannotrebootiLOuntiltheprocessisfinished.
    •HardwareiLOreboot—AniLOrebootisinitiatedbytheProLianthardware.Tousethisfeature,
    pressandholdtheUIDbuttonformorethan10seconds.
    TheUIDbutton/LEDflashesblue8Hz/cyclepersecondtoindicatethataniLOhardware
    rebootisinprogress.
    CAUTION:InitiatingahardwareiLOrebootdoesnotmakeanyconfigurationchanges,but
    endsallactiveconnectionstoiLO.Ifafirmwareflashisinprogress,itisinterrupted,which
    mightcausedatacorruptionontheflashdevice.Ifthishappens,usetherecoverymethod
    describedin“iLOnetworkFailedFlashRecovery”(page334).
    DatalossorNVRAMcorruptionmightoccurduringahardwareiLOreboot.
    Donotinitiateahardwarerebootifothertroubleshootingoptionsareavailable.

    NetworkerrorscancauseiLOtoconcludethatadirectoryconnectionisnolongervalid.IfiLO
    cannotdetectthedirectory,itendsthedirectoryconnection.Anyattempttocontinueusingthe
    terminatedconnectionredirectsthebrowsertotheloginpage.
    Aprematuresessiontimeoutcanoccurduringanactivesessionif:
    •Thenetworkconnectionisterminated.
    •Thedirectoryserverisshutdown.
    iLOmanagementportnotaccessiblebyname
    Solution:TheiLOmanagementportcanregisterwithaWINSserverorDDNSservertoprovide
    thename-to-IP-addressresolutionrequiredtoaccesstheiLOmanagementportbyname.TheWINS
    orDDNSservermustbeupandrunningbeforetheiLOmanagementportispoweredon,andthe
    iLOmanagementportmusthaveavalidroutetotheWINSorDDNSserver.
    Inaddition,theiLOmanagementportmustbeconfiguredwiththeIPaddressoftheWINSor
    DDNSserver.YoucanuseDHCPtoconfiguretheDHCPserverwiththerequiredIPaddresses.
    TheseoptionsareenabledasfactorydefaultsandcanbechangedbyusingtheiLORBSU,the
    iLO4ConfigurationUtility,oriLOwebinterface.Formoreinformation,see“SettingupiLOby
    usingiLORBSUortheiLO4ConfigurationUtility”(page21)or“ManagingtheiLOnetwork
    settings”(page91).
    TheclientsthatareusedtoaccesstheiLOmanagementportmustbeconfiguredtousethesame
    DDNSserverwheretheIPaddressoftheiLOmanagementportisregistered.
    IfyouareusingaWINSserverandanon-dynamicDNSserver,accesstotheiLOmanagement
    portmightbesignificantlyfasterifyouconfiguretheDNSservertousetheWINSserverforname
    resolution.Formoreinformation,seetheappropriateMicrosoftdocumentation.
    iLORBSUunavailableafteriLOandserverreset
    Solution:Resettheserverasecondtime.Toavoidthisissue,afterresettingtheprocessor,waita
    fewsecondsbeforeresettingtheserver.
    IftheiLOprocessorisresetandtheserverisimmediatelyreset,iLOfirmwaremightnotbefully
    initializedwhentheserverperformsitsinitializationandattemptstostarttheiLORBSU.Inthis
    case,theiLORBSUisunavailable,ortheiLOoptionROMcodeisskippedaltogether.
    Unabletoaccesstheloginpage
    Solution:VerifythattheSSLencryptionlevelofyourbrowserissetto128bits.TheSSLencryption
    leveliniLOissetto128bitsandcannotbechanged.ThebrowserandiLOencryptionlevelsmust
    bethesame.

    indicatesagoodconnectionbetweenthePCINICandthenetworkhub.
    •LookforintermittentflashesofthegreenLEDindicator,whichindicatesnormalnetworktraffic.
    •RuntheiLORBSUortheiLO4ConfigurationUtilitytoconfirmthattheNICisenabled,and
    verifytheassignedIPaddressandsubnetmask.
    •RuntheiLORBSU,andusetheAdvancedoptionontheNetworkAutoconfigurationpageto
    viewthestatusofDHCPrequests.
    •PingtheIPaddressoftheNICfromaseparatenetworkworkstation.
    •AttempttoconnectwithabrowserbyenteringtheIPaddressoftheNICastheURL.Youcan
    seetheiLOhomepagefromthisaddress.
    •ResetiLO.
    NOTE:Ifanetworkconnectionisestablished,youmighthavetowaitupto90secondsfor
    theDHCPserverrequest.
    UnabletologintoiLOafterinstallingiLOcertificate
    Solution:DonotinstalltheiLOself-signedcertificateinthebrowsercertificatestore.Ifyouwantto
    installtheiLOcertificate,requestapermanentcertificatefromaCAandimportittoiLO.For
    instructions,see“AdministeringSSLcertificates”(page69).
    WhenyouresetiLOtothefactorydefaultsorchangetheiLOhostname,anewself-signedcertificate
    isgenerated.IftheiLOself-signedcertificateisinstalledpermanentlyinsomebrowsers,youmight
    notbeabletologbackintoiLOafterthenewself-signedcertificateisgenerated.
    UnabletoconnecttoiLOIPaddress
    Solution:Ifthewebbrowsersoftwareisconfiguredtouseaproxyserver,itwillnotconnecttothe
    iLOIPaddress.Toresolvethisissue,configurethebrowsernottousetheproxyserverfortheIP
    addressofiLO.Forexample,inInternetExplorer:
    1.SelectTools→InternetOptions.
    2.ClickConnections.
    3.ClickLANsettings.

    Solution:iLOcommunicatesthroughseveralconfigurableTCP/IPports.Iftheseportsareblocked,
    theadministratormustconfigurethefirewalltoallowforcommunicationsontheseports.For
