Olietype winter: SAE 5W-30
(Ook SAE 10W-30 kan gebruikt worden).
Geen toevoegsles bij de olie gebruiken.
Vul niet teveel olie bij. Dit kan tot oververhitting 
van de motor leiden. 
Controleer na het bijvullen steeds het oliepeil. Dit 
moet tot aan “FULL” komen.
SMEREN
De vooras heeft vier smeerpunten K (afb 16). Vul 
n keer per seizoen vet bij.
Smeer stuurrondsel L een paar keer per seizoen in 
met vet (afb 17).
Smeer de overige bewegende delen van de machi-
ne een paar per seizoen in met vet. 
LUCHTFILTER
Belangrijk! Laat de motor nooit draaien wanneer 
het luchtfilter niet gemonteerd is.
Schuimplastic filter: Maak het om de drie maanden 
of om de 25 werkuren. 
Papieren filter: Vervang het jaarlijks of om de 100 
werkuren, of vaker wanneer de machine in uiterst 
stoffige omstandigheden werkt.
1. Verwijder de beschermkap van de luchtfilter en 
de schuimplastic filter (afb 18 - 19).
2. Reinig de schuimplastic filter M in een vloeibaar 
afwasmiddel en water. Wring de filter uit tot 
deze droog is. 
3. Haal de papieren filter N eruit en maak het lucht-
filterhuis zorgvuldig schoon om vuil worden 
van de carburateur te voorkomen.
4. Maak de papieren filter als volgt schoon. Klop 
deze licht tegen een glad oppervlak. Als de fil-
ter erg vuil is, dient deze te worden vervangen.
5. Monteer in omgekeerde volgorde.
Bij het schoonmaken van de papieren filter mogen 
geen petroleum oplosmiddelen worden gebruikt. 
Deze oplosmiddelen vernielen de filter.
Gebruik geen perslucht bij het schoonmaken van 
de papieren filter. De papieren filter mag niet wor-
den ingeölied. 
HOUD DE MOTOR SCHOON
De motor is luchtgekoeld. Als het koelsysteem 
verstopt is, raakt de motor beschadigd.
Om de 5 werkuren of dagelijks moeten de koelf-
lenzen van de cilinder en de luchtinlaat schoonge-
maakt worden en moeten gras en vuil verwijderd 
worden (afb 20 - 21). Dit is vooral belangrijk wan-
neer men droog gras maait.
Maak ook rondom de geluiddemper schoon om 
brand te voorkomen.
Maak bij reinigen gebruik van perslucht of van een 
borstel. De motor mag niet nat worden.
Bij lang achter elkaar maaien van droog gras moe-
ten de binnenste koelflenzen van de motor moge-
lijkerwijs worden schoongemaakt. Neem contact 
op met een erkend servicestation.
BOUGIE 
Controleer de bougie om de 100 werkuren en maak 
ze schoon.
Maak de bougie schoon met een metalen borstel 
(geen zandstralen) en zorg ervoor dat de elektro-
deafstand 0.75 mm bedraagt. 
Vervang de bougie als de elektroden te erg ver-
brand zijn. Gebruik bougiebus AC en draaipen AD 
uit de accessoireszak om de bougie te vervangen 
(geldt voor de Garden). 
De motorfabrikanten raden het volgende aan:
Champion RC12YC
CARBURATEUR 
De carburateur is af fabriek juist ingesteld en moet 
normaal niet bijgesteld worden. 
Als dit echter toch moet gebeuren, moet u contact 
opnemen met een servicepunt. 
KOPPELING/REM AFSTELLEN
Als de aandrijfriem slipt (hij kan iets uitrekken 
wanneer hij verslijt) is er een afstelmogelijkheid 
op de koppeling/remstang.
Afstellen: verplaats de borgpen O naar het achter-
ste gat (afb 22).
De rem wordt afgesteld met moer P op de remmen 
(afb 22).
Controleer na het instellen dat de koppeling altijd 
geactiveerd wordt voor de rem.

MAAIAGGREGAAT DEMONTEREN
1. Schakel de parkeerrem in. 
2. Leg de machine op haar zijkant. 
Als de machine op een korte kant moet 
staan, moeten eerst de benzine en de 
motorolie worden afgetapt. Bij de Gar-
den moet ook de accu worden verwij-
derd.
3. Stel de laagste maaihoogte in en demonteer de 
borgsplitpen Q (afb 23). 
4. Demonteer de twee achterste borgsplitpennen R 
en de kabels naar de schakelaarcontacten op het 
aggregaat (afb 24).
5. Verwijder de riemen van de poelie (buig de 
riemgeleiding S naar boven) (afb 25). 
6. Til het aggregaat eraf. 
V-RIEM MOTOR - MAAIAGGREGAAT 
VERVANGEN
1. Demonteer het maaiaggregaat (zie boven).
2. Demonteer de riembeugel T. Verwijder de oude 
riem (afb 26).
3. Monteer een nieuwe originele riem. Ga hierbij 
in de omgekeerde volgorde tewerk. 
V-RIEM MOTOR - VERSNELLINGS-
BAK VERVANGEN
1. Schakel de parkeerrem in. 
2. Zet de machine op haar achterkant. 
Als de machine op een korte kant moet 
staan, moeten eerst de benzine en de 
motorolie worden afgetapt. Bij de Gar-
den moet ook de accu worden verwij-
derd.
3. Demonteer het maaiaggregaat (zie hierboven).
4. Maak veer U los en demonteer spanrol V 
(afb 25).
5. Maak de riemgeleiding X los en draai ze opzij.
6. Trek de defecte riem over de poelie van de ver-
snellingsbak. Werk vanaf de bovenkant van de ma-
chine. Gebruik het gat in de grondplaat.
7. Trek de riem over de motorriempoelie. Buig de 
riemgeleiding S naar beneden en lag de riem in de 
onderste groef. Buig de riemgeleiding weer naar boven en verwijder de defecte riem.
8. Monteer een nieuwe originele riem. Ga hierbij 
in omgekeerde volgorde tewerk.
MESSENREM AFSTELLEN
1. Zet de hendel voor het inschakelen van de mes-
sen in de achterste, uitgeschakelde stand. 
2. Maak de messenrem Y los en stel hem zo af dat 
hij tegen poelie aan ligt (afb 26). 
3. Haal de schroeven en de moeren aan.
MESSEN 
Let erop dat het mes altijd scherp zijn. Dat geeft de 
beste maairesultaten.
SLIJPEN 
Uit veiligheidsoverwegingen mogen het mes niet 
worden geslepen op een amarilschijf. Onjuist slij-
pen (d.w.z. bij te hoge temperatuur) kan het mes 
broos maken.
Eventuele slijpwerkzaamheden moeten worden 
uitgevoerd op een wet- of slijpsteen (nat slijpen).
Na het slijpen moeten het mes uitgeba-
lanceerd worden om schade door tril-
lingen te voorkomen.
HET VERVANGEN VAN MES
Bij het vervangen van mes, meshouder en mesbout 
altijd originele reserveonderdelen gebruiken.
Gebruik altijd originele reserveonder-
delen. Andere dan originele reserveon-
derdelen kunnen tot schade leiden, ook 
als ze op de machine passen.
Bij het vervangen van mes moet ook de mesbout in 
het midden worden vervangen. Deze is voorzien 
van een vergrendeling. Het aanhaalmoment van de 
mesbout: 65 Nm.
RESERVEONDERDELEN 
Originele STIGA reserveonderdelen en accessoi-
res zijn speciaal gemaakt voor STIGA machines. 
Denk erom dat niet originele reserveonderdelen 
en accessoires niet door STIGA gecontroleerd en 
goedgekeurd zijn.

De garantieperiode is geldig voor 2 jaar met aanvang op de aankoopdatum.
Waarborg wordt enkel toegpast indien aan volgende voorschriftenwordt voldaan.
1.  De garantiebon bevindt zich op de rugzijde van boekje en dient volledig ingevuld te 
worden door de verkoper op de dag van aankoop.
Bewaar de rekening of kwitantie als bewijs.
2.  Het toestel mag enkel in narmale omstandigheden en niet voor professionele doelein-
den gebruikt worden. De waarborg dekt alle onderdelen tegen produktie- of materiaal-
fouten.
Op vertoon van de garantiebon worden alle waarborgonderdelen vervangen door een 
erkende na-verkoop-dienst (onderdelen + werk).
De waarborg dekt niet: slijtage onderdelen zoals : messen, kabels, riemen, V-riemschi-
jven, wielen en banden.
De waarborg vervalt: ingeval van verkeerde montage, onoordeelkundig gebruik, het ge-
bruik van “niet” originele onderdelen, enz... Stiga NV. is niet verantwoordelijk voor de 
eventuele ongemakken veroorzaakt door het gebruik van het toestel.
Het in bedrijf stellen, regelen, of onderhoud vallen van zelfsprekend niet onder de waar-
borg. Het transport en/of verpakking van de machine of onderdelen zijn ten laste van de 
gebruiker.
GARANTIE MOTOR
Voor alle benzine motoren wordt de waarborg gedragen door Briggs & Stratton of 
Techumseh volgens de voorwaarden voorzien on de motorinstruktieboekjes.
Ingeval van betwisting zijn alleen de rechtbanken van Brugge in België bevoegd.

SAFETY REGULATIONS 
GENERAL
 Read the instructions carefully. Familiarize your-
self with all the controls and learn how to operate 
the machine properly.
 Before using the machine, all drivers (operators) 
must apply for and receive practical training in 
its operation. It must be particularly emphasized 
that:
a. Driving a motor mower requires care and con-
centration;
b. A motor mower that skids on a slope cannot be 
brought under control by braking. The most 
common reasons for losing control are insuffi-
cient wheel grip, excessive speed, insufficient 
braking, using the wrong machine for the job, 
failure to take account of surface conditions and 
improper use as a tractor.
 Never allow a child or other person unfamiliar 
with these regulations to drive the machine. Lo-
cal regulations may include restrictions concern-
ing the minimum age of the driver.
 Never operate the machine when other persons, 
especially children, or animals are in the vicinity.
 Remember that the driver (operator) is held re-
sponsible for any accidents involving other per-
sons or their property.
 Never let children or other persons ride as pas-
sengers. They may fall off and be seriously in-
jured, or they may prevent the machine from 
being operated safely.
 Do not use the machine while under the influ-
ence of alcohol, drugs or medicines, nor when 
you are tired or sick.
PREPARATIONS
 Wear stout shoes and long trousers when cutting. 
Do not operate the machine barefoot or in san-
dals.
 Wear suitable clothing when operating the ma-
chine. Do not wear loose-hanging garments, jew-
ellery, scarves, ties, etc. that might get caught in 
the moving parts. Put up or cover long hair.
 Check the area where you are going to cut/clear 
snow thoroughly. Remove all loose stones, sticks, wire and other foreign objects that can be 
ejected from the machine.
 Warning - Petrol is highly inflammable.
a. Always store petrol in containers specially 
made for the purpose.
b. Fill or top up with petrol only outdoors, and 
never smoke when filling or topping up.
c. Fill with petrol before starting the motor. Nev-
er remove the filler cap or fill or top up with pet-
rol while the motor is running or still warm.
d. If petrol is spilt, do not attempt to start the mo-
tor. Push the machine away from the vicinity of 
the spill, and avoid striking any kind of spark un-
til the petrol fumes have evaporated.
e. Do not forget to screw on the petrol filler cap 
and the cap of the storage container after refuel-
ling.
 Replace defective silencer.
 Before use: always check to make sure that 
blades and fixing units are not worn or damaged. 
Replace any worn out or damaged parts in kits in 
order to maintain the correct balance.
 The battery (on machines with electric starters) 
gives off explosive fumes. Keep sparks, naked 
lights and cigarettes out of the way. When charg-
ing, be sure that the space is well ventilated.
 The battery contains hazardous materials. Avoid 
damaging the battery casing. If the casing should 
be damaged, avoid contact with the contents of 
the battery.
 Do not throw out old unserviceable batteries with 
the refuse. Contact your local authority concern-
ing safe disposal.
 Do not short-circuit the battery. This causes 
sparks which may start fires.
OPERATION
 Start the engine according to the instructions in 
the manual. Keep your feet clear of the blades.
 Use the machine only in daylight or under good 
illumination.
 Do not run the motor in confined spaces where 
dangerous and toxic carbon monoxides can accu-
mulate.
 Always use hearing protectors (earplugs or 
muffs).

 Take care when approaching obstacles that ob-
scure visibility.
 Keep children clear of the working area of the 
machine at all times. Have another adult person 
keep an eye on the children.
 Be careful when reversing. Look back before 
and during reversing to check for obstacles. Be-
ware of small children.
 Disengage all blades and the clutch before start-
ing the motor.
 Never put your hands or feet near or under the 
rotating parts. Beware of the blades. Do not 
stand immediately in front of the ejector open-
ing.
 Avoid using the machine on wet lawns.
 Take great care when operating on slopes. No 
sudden starting or stopping when you move up 
or down a slope.
 Release the clutch slowly. Always drive with a 
gear engaged, and do not declutch when driving 
downhill.
 Never cut straight across a slope. Move from 
the top and down, and from down to the top.
 Use low acceleration when engaging the drive, 
especially when operating in tall grass. Reduce 
the speed on slopes and when moving the mow-
er in sharp bend-like patterns to prevent the ma-
chine from turning over or you losing control 
over the machine.
 Look out for holes in the groound and other hid-
den obstacles and dangers.
 Do not drive too near ditches or high kerbs. The 
machine may overturn if a wheel goes over the 
edge or a shoulder gives way.
 Be very careful when towing and using heavy 
equipment.
a. Use approved towing fixtures only.
b. Limit the load to allow it to be checked safe-
ly.
c. Do not move the mower in sudden bend-like 
patterns. Be careful when reversing.
d. Use wheel weights or a front counterweight 
when the manual so recommends.
 Look out for traffic at junctions or when operat-
ing by the roadside. Stop the blade(s) when driving over any surface 
other than grass.
 When using any type of accessory, never point 
the evacuation unit towards any person who 
may be standing close to the mower, and never 
allow anyone to stand close to the machine 
while it is in operation.
 Never operate the machine with damaged safety 
covers or with safety devices removed.
 Safety devices fitted to the machine must not be 
disconnected or rendered inoperative. Always 
check that the safety devices work before oper-
ating the machine.
 Do not change the setting of the motors regula-
tor and never run the motor at overspeed. The 
risk of personal injury increases when the motor 
is run at too high a speed.
 Do not touch motor parts that heat up while run-
ning. You might burn yourself.
 Do not leave the drivers seat without first
a. Disengaging the power take-off and lowering 
the accessory;
b. Putting the gear shift in neutral and applying 
the parking brake. 
c. Shutting off the motor and removing the key.
 Use only accessories that are approved by the 
manufacturer of the machine.
 The machine must not be used without an ac-
cessory/appliance in place. Driving without ac-
cessories may adversely affect the stability of 
the machine.
 Take care when using grass collectors and other 
accessories. They may affect the stability of the 
machine, especially on slopes.
 Disengage the drive to the accessory, shut off 
the motor, and loosen the lead from the spark 
plug, or remove the ignition key:
a. For removing pins and other waste objects, or 
when the evacuation unit has become clogged;
b. To inspect, clean or service the machine.
c. To check for damage and make any neces-
sary repairs before restarting and driving the 
machine after a collision with a foreign object.
d. When checking the machine if it starts to vi-
brate too much (check immediately).

 Disengage the drive to the accessory when 
transporting the machine or when the machine 
is no longer in use.
 Shut off the motor and disengage the drive to 
the accessory:
a. Before topping up with petrol
b. Before removing the grass collector
c. Before adjusting the height, unless this can be 
done from the drivers seat.
 Ease off the throttle before stopping the motor; 
if the motor is fitted with a fuel cock, turn off 
the cock when you have finished cutting.
 Be very careful when operating with a multi- 
blade unit since a rotating blade can cause other 
blades to rotate.
 Do not use the machine on steep slopes. See ta-
ble for maximum permitted gradients.
 The original blade(s) of the cutter unit must not 
be replaced by non-original devices designed 
for moss scarification, etc. Use of such devices 
renders the guarantee void. In addition, it in-
volves a serious risk of injury to persons and 
damage to property.
 Take great care when loading and unloading the 
machine on a trailer or goods vehicle.
MAINTENANCE AND STORAGE
 Tighten all nuts and screws to ensure that the 
machine is in a safe working condition.
 Check at regular intervals that the blade bolt(s) 
of the cutter unit is/are properly tightened.
 Check the brakes regularly. It is important that 
the brakes are properly maintained and repaired 
as necessary.
 Never store the machine with petrol in the tank 
inside buildings where fumes or vapour can 
come into contact with naked flames or sparks.
 Allow the motor to cool before putting the ma-
chine into storage.
 To reduce fire hazard, keep the motor, silencer, 
battery and fuel tank free from grass, leaves and 
surplus oil.
 Make frequent checks for wear and damage to 
the grass collector.
 For the sake of safety, replace any worn or dam-aged parts.
 Always use original replacement parts. Using 
non-original parts may involve a risk of dam-
age, even if they fit the machine.
 Replace damaged warning and instruction la-
bels.
 If there is no mechanical locking mechanism 
provided for the transport position, the cutting 
unit must be lowered when the machine is 
parked, stored, or left unattended to.
 If you have to empty the fuel tank, do so out of 
doors.
 Store the machine in a safe place where children 
cannot get at it.
STORAGE 
Empty the fuel tank. Start the engine and let it run 
until it stops.
While the engine is warm change the oil.
NOTE! If the machine is to be stored on its bumper 
do not fill with new engine oil until the machine is 
to be used. 
Remove the spark plug and pour a desert spoon of 
oil in the cylinder. Turn-over the engine a few turns 
so that the oil is evenly distributed. Refit the spark 
plug. 
Clean the entire machine, especially under the cut-
terhead casing. Touch up any damage to prevent 
rust.
Store the machine indoors in a dry place. 
Machines with electric start:
Remove the battery. Store it well charged in a cool 
place (between 0°C and +15°C). 
At the correct storage temperature the battery 
should be recharged every fourth month.
Battery acid is corrosive and can cause 
injury to your skin and damage your 
clothes. Use rubber gloves and protec-
tive glasses . Avoid inhaling the acid 
fumes. 
Do not tip the battery so that battery 
acid can run on to your hands or 
clothes. If this should occur rinse thor-
oughly with water.

SERVICE
Authorised service centres carry out repairs and 
the guarantee service. They use genuine spare 
parts. 
STIGA original spare parts and accessories are 
constructed exclusively for STIGA machines. 
Note that non original spare parts and accesso-
ries have not been checked or approved by STI-
GA.
Usage of such parts and accessories can 
influence the machines operability and 
safety. STIGA cannot be held responsi-
ble for injuries caused by these prod-
ucts.
Genuine spare parts are supplied by authorized 
work shops and by many dealers.
We recommend that you take the machine to an au-
thorized shop once a year for servicing, mainte-
nance and inspection of safety devices.
PRODUCT IDENTITY
The identity of the product is designated by two 
components:
1. Article and serial number of the machine:
Appears on this plate riveted to the machine.
2. Model, type and serial number of the motor:
Appears on the motor fan housing as shown.
Use these identity designations whenever you con-tact a service shop or buy replacement parts.
As soon as possible after buying the machine, 
write in the above numbers on the back page of this 
booklet.
THE ENVIRONMENT
In order to protect the environment, we recom-
mend that the following points are specially com-
plied with:
 Always use Aliphatic petrol (so called environ-
mentally friendly petrol). 
 Always use a funnel and/or a petrol can with a 
level control so as to avoid spillage when filling 
the fuel tank. 
 Do not fill the fuel tank completely full. 
 Do not fill with too much motor and/or trans-
mission oil (see Instructions for Use for appro-
priate amounts).
 When changing the oil, ensure that all the oil is 
collected. Avoid spillage. Return the used oil to 
a recycling unit.
 Do not dispose of the used oil filter in a refuse 
bin. Return it to a recycling unit.
 Do not dispose of used batteries in the refuse 
bin. Return them to a battery collection point 
for recycling.
 Replace the muffler if it is not functioning prop-
erly. When carrying out repairs, always use 
original spare parts.
 If the machine was originally equipped with a 
catalytic converter and this does not function 
properly, a new catalytic converter must be fit-
ted.
 Always seek professional help to adjust the car-
burettor.
 Clean the air filter according to the directions 
given in the Instructions for Use.

ASSEMBLY
To avoid personal injury and damage to 
property, never try to start the engine 
before all the operations described un-
der ASSEMBLY have been completed.
ACCESSORIES BAG
A plastic bag is enclosed with the machine contain-

STEERING WHEEL
Fit the steering wheel on to the steering shaft using 
the enclosed locking clip and slide over the steering 
shaft sleeve.
The shim washers (AL and AM) found in the acces-
sory bag should be fitted between the lower and up-
per steering column to compensate any axial play: 0, 
1 or 2 washer can be required (fig 4). 
BATTERY 
The battery is sealed and therefore does not require 
topping up with battery acid.
The battery is installed at the factory. However, be-
fore starting the machine for the first time, the 
black cable must be connected to the negative ter-
minal on the battery (fig 5).
Do not short circuit the battery termi-
nals as sparks may arise and cause fire. 
Do not wear any metal items of jewel-
lery that can easily come in contact with 
the battery terminals.
Do not run the engine with the battery disconnect-
ed. 
TYRE INFLATION PRESSURE
Check the tyre inflation pressure. The correct pres-
sure should be:
Front tyres: 1,7 bar (24 psi)
Rear tyres: 0,6 bar (9 psi) 
MOWER DECK
The mower deck parallelism to the ground is ad-
justed using the nuts D located at the rear mower 
deck suspension (fig 8).
Side discharge:
The mower deck is fitted to the machine on deliv-
ery but must be fitted with a deflector or an ejec-
tion tube.

1. Remove the battery cables. 
2. Remove the blade lock E (fig 9A). 
3. Fit the deflector F or the ejection tube G (fig 
9A). Use the same screws and nuts which held 
the blade lock. 
4. Refit the battery cables.
Under no circumstances should the 
lawnmower be started if the blade lock 
has not been replaced by either the de-
flector or the ejection tube.
Grass collecting (Garden Combi):
The mower deck is fitted to the machine on deliv-
ery but must be fitted with an ejection tube. 
1. Remove the battery cables. 
2. Remove the cover C (fig 9B). 
3. Fit the ejection tube G (fig 9B). Use the same 
screws and nuts which held the cover.
Under no circumstances should the 
lawnmower be started if the cover has 
not been replaced by the ejection tube.
4. Refit the battery cables.
GRASS COLLECTOR (Accessory)
Assemble the grass collector as described in the 
separate assembly instructions supplied with the 
grass collector.

When using the grass collector, all parts that are in-
corporated in the collector must always be assem-
bled and fitted on the machine (fig 10)
Never use the machine without the col-
lecting bag H and the long ejection pipe 
I being fitted. There would otherwise be 
a risk that stones and other similar ob-
jects would be ejected and cause injury 
to people and animals or damage to 
property.
Warning for the rotating blade. Never 
put your hand or foot into the ejector 
opening.
CONTROLS
Items 1 - 7, see figures 1 - 3.
1. HEIGHT ADJUSTMENT LEVER
A lever for setting/adjusting the height of the 
mower deck above the ground. 
Release the lever by pressing it inwards. 
Then move it upwards or downwards to 
the desired position.
The lever has five positions which give mowing 
heights of between 35 and 75 mm.
2. BLADE ENGAGEMENT LEVER
Lever for engaging the drive for the mower deck. 
There are two positions:
1. Lever in the front position - the blade 
rotates.
2. Lever in the rear position - the blade do 
not rotate. Blade brake activated.
3. SERVICE BRAKE/CLUTCH
A pedal that combines both the service brake and 
clutch. There are three positions:
1. Pedal released - forward 
drive engaged. The machine 
will move if a gear is engaged. 
Service brake not activated.
2. Pedal only half depressed - 
forward drive released, gear-
shifting can be performed. 
Service brake not activated.
3. Pedal fully depressed - for-
ward drive released. Service 
brake fully activated.
4. PARKING BRAKE
An inhibitor that can lock the brake pedal in the de-
pressed position.
Depress the brake pedal fully. Move the 
brake inhibitor to one side and then re-
lease the brake pedal. 
The parking brake is released by pressing the brake 
pedal lightly. The spring-loaded inhibitor slides to 
one side.
Make sure the parking brake is released when op-
erating the machine.
5. THROTTLE/CHOKE CONTROL
A control for setting the engine speed and to choke 
the engine when starting from cold.
