    11.8 Specifying account data settings
    A password and the number of prints allowed can be specified and the 
    counters can be controlled for each account using this machine.
    The following procedure describes how to display the desired account.
    To display the desired account
    0[Account Track Setting] appear only if the “Account Track” parameter is 
    set to “ON”.
    0A maximum of 1,000 accounts can be registered on this machine.
    1Display the Administrator Management 1 screen, and then touch [Ac-
    count/User Auth.].
    – For details on displaying the Administrator Management 1 screen, 
    refer to “Displaying the Administrator Management screen” on 
    page 11-21.
    The Account/Authentication screen appears.
    2Touch [Account Track 
    Setting].
    The Account Data 
    screen appears.
    3Touch the button for the 
    range of accounts that 
    includes the desired ac-
    count.
    – To immediately dis-
    play the desired ac-
    count, touch 
    [Account #], and then 
    use the keypad to 
    type in the account 
    number.
    The screen for the selected range of account numbers appears.

    To register an account
    The account name, password, and number of prints allowed can be specified 
    for each account using this machine.
    0A maximum of 1,000 accounts can be registered on this machine.
    0If user authentication and account track are synchronized, 100 accounts 
    can be managed.
    1Display the Account Data screen, and then select an available account 
    number.
    – For details on displaying the Account Registr. screen, refer to 
    “Specifying account data settings” on page 11-31.
    The Account Registr. screen appears.
    2Touch [Account Name].

    – To change the password, touch [Current Password], type the cur-
    rent password into the screen that appeared, and then touch [En-
    ter].
    – To cancel changes to the settings, touch [Cancel].

    The Max. Print Limit screen appears.
    7Touch  and  to

    lowed can be set be-
    tween 0 and 
    999,999.
    – If “0” is specified, there is no limit on the number of prints allowed.
    – To cancel changes to the settings, touch [Cancel].
    8Touch [Enter], and then touch [Enter] in the next two screens that ap-
    pear.
    – To exit the Account/Authentication screen, touch [Enter] in each 
    screen until the Basics screen appears.
    The screen for selecting an account number appears again.
    The new account is registered.

    The account name appears on the button for the registered account 
    number.
    To manage an account
    The settings for registered accounts can be changed and the counters can 
    be controlled.
    0The list of print counters for each account can be printed by pressing the 
    [Start] key while the Detail screen is displayed.
    1Display the Account Data screen, and then select the desired account 
    number.
    – For details on displaying the Detail screen for an account, refer to 
    “Specifying account data settings” on page 11-31.
    The Detail screen appears.

    – To exit the Account/Authentication screen, touch [Enter] in each 
    screen until the Basics screen appears.
    The screen for selecting an account number appears again.

    In the screen for selecting an account number, touch [Reset All 
    Counters], then [Yes], and then touch [Enter] to reset all counters for all 
    accounts to 0.

    To delete an account
    1Display the Account Data screen, and then select the desired account 
    number.
    – For details on displaying the Detail screen for an account, refer to 
    “Specifying account data settings” on page 11-31.
    The Detail screen appears.
    2Touch [Delete Account].
    – If this machine is be-
    ing used with ac-
    count track settings 
    specified, [Delete Ac-
    count] does not ap-
    pear for accounts

    Allowing printing without authentication
    1Display the Administrator Management 1 screen, and then touch [Ac-
    count/User Auth.].

    The Account/Authentication screen appears.
    2Touch [Allow Print with-
    out Authentication].
    The Allow Print without

    printing is possible

    11.9 Specifying user authentication settings
    User authentication can be performed by the external server or by the ma-
    chine. With external server authentication, limitations can be placed on the 
    users who have access to this machine. With machine authentication, a 
    password can be specified for each user and their counters can be control-
    led.
    To display the User Authentication screen
    0If “ON (External Server)” was selected in the User Authentication ON/OFF 
    screen, [External Server Authentication] appears in the Account/Authen-
    tication screen. If “ON (MFP)” was selected, [Machine Auth. Setting] ap-
    pears in the Account/Authentication screen. For details, refer to 
    “Specifying the account/authentication settings (User Authentication 
    ON/OFF parameters)” on page 11-27.
    0A maximum of 100 users can be registered on this machine.
    1Display the Administrator Management 1 screen, and then touch [Ac-
    count/User Auth.].
    – For details on displaying the Administrator Management 1 screen, 
    refer to “Displaying the Administrator Management screen” on 
    page 11-21.

    Detail 
    Depending on the network environment, it may take some time to log on 
    with external server authentication. Selecting the following settings may 
    reduce the logon time.
    -Specify a server compatible with Active Directory for DNS server ad-
    dress 1. 
    -With DNS server address 1, register an SRV record for LDAP and Ker-
    beros for a server compatible with Active Directory.
