You will see the symbol ‘‘ ,’’ or
the symbol with a ‘‘WATER IN
    FUEL FILTER’’ message on the
    multi-inf ormation display when water
stays in the f uel system. Contact
your dealer as soon as possible (see
    page ).
The f uel f ilter should be drained of
water according to the time and
    distance recommendations in the
maintenance schedule. The f uel f ilter should be replaced
    accordingtothetimeanddistance
    recommendations in the mainte-
    nance schedule.
It is recommended to replace the
    f uel f ilter every 40,000 km (25,000
miles), or 2 years (except EU, South
Af rica and Russia)/every 45,000 km,
or 3 years (South Af rica and Russia),
if the f uel you are using is suspected
to be contaminated. In a high dust
environment, the f ilter may become
    clogged sooner.
Have a qualif ied technician change
the fuel filter. Since the fuel system
is under pressure, f uel can spray out
and create a hazard if all fuel line
    connections are not handled
correctly.Af ter the vehicle has been stored f or
an extended period, the engine may
not start. If water has accumulated in
the f uel system, you will see the
    symbol on the multi-inf ormation
display when you turn the ignition
switch to the ON (II) position. This
    mayalsobecausedbyairinthefuel

when your vehicle was new. If you
regularly carry heavy items in the
luggage area or pull a trailer,
    readjustment may be required.
    Adjustmentsshouldbedonebyyour
    dealer or another qualif ied
    technician.
The vertical angle of the headlights
    can be adjusted. For more
inf ormation, see page .Your vehicle has halogen headlight
bulbs. When replacing a bulb, handle
it by its base, and protect the glass
f rom contact with your skin or hard
objects. If you touch the glass, clean
it with denatured alcohol and a clean
    cloth.
Halogen headlight bulbs get very hot
when lit. Oil, perspiration, or a
scratch on the glass can cause the
bulb to overheat and shatter. The low beam headlight bulbs are
    high voltage discharge tube bulbs.
High voltage can remain in the
circuit even with the light switch of f
and the key removed. Because of
this, you should not attempt to
examine or change a low beam
headlight bulb yourself . If a low
beam headlight bulb fails, take the
vehicle to your dealer to have it
    replaced.
Your vehicle is equipped with an
    automatic headlight adjusting
system that adjusts the vertical angle
    of the headlights (low beam)
    automatically. Refer to page for
