    This section describes how to scan documents and save them to a shared folder directly from the machine. Scanned
    documents are saved as JPEG images, PDF  4les or in other digital  4le formats.
    	To save documents directly to a shared folder, you must complete preparations in advance, including
    speci4cation  of the save destination.

    	 Available destinations for shared folders are limited to the destinations registered in the Address Book. To
    specify a destination using the Address Book, it is necessary to register the destinations for shared foldersbeforehand.

    	 The  4le  name  of  a  scanned  document  is  automatically  assigned  based  on  the  following  format:
    "communication  management  number  (four  digits)_sent  date  and  time_document  number  (three
    digits).4le  extension name."

    	 You cannot specify  4le names yourself.

     You can select the 4le format to which documents are scanned, from PDF/JPEG/TIFF.
    For PDF, you can select a highly compressed PDF  4le with a reduced  4le size.

    	If you select JPEG in  and try to scan a document from the platen glass, you can only scan one
    page. To scan a multiple-page document all at once, use the feeder. Each page of the document is saved as a separate  4le. If you select TIFF or PDF, you can scan multiple-page documents either from the platen glass or
    from the feeder and the whole of the scanned document is saved as one  4le.
