    WHEN CONFIGURATION ANSWER TONE IS HEARD, 
    QUICKLY PRESS DATA KEY ON THE REMOTE DATA 
    SET MODEM AND REPLACE HANDSET ON THE HOOK. 
    PRESS RETURN KEY ON THE PMP TO EXIT FROM 
    PORT CONFIGURATION SCREEN. WHEN PORT 
    CONFIGURATION PROMPT IS DISPLAYED, ENTER: N. 
    CONNECT THE RS-232-C CABLE FROM LOCAL MODEM 
    TO PORT CN13,l/Off OF THE OMNI SBCS. 
    POWER ON OMNI SBCS (IF NOT ALREADY POWERED) 
    AND LOCAL MODEM. 
    CONNECT PMP TO RS-232-C PORT ON REMOTE DATA 
    SET MODEM. 
    POWER ON PMP AT REMOTE SITE (WHICH MUST BE 
    INITIALIZED WITH PMP CONTROL PROGRAM) AND 
    SELECT PMP CONTROL PROGRAM. (12) WHEN SECURITY CODE PROMPT SCREEN IS 
    DISPLAYED, ENTER CORRECT SECURITY ACCESS 
    CODE. 
    (13) COMPLETE DATA BASE TASKS BY ENTERING DESIRED 
    CMC COMMANDS AND PARAMETERS ACCORDING TO 
    PROCEDURES OUTLINED IN PROGRAMMING 
    SECTIONS OF THIS WORKBOOK OR OMNI SBCS GTEP 
    MANUAL. 
    3.7 (14) WHEN DATA BASE TASKS HAVE BEEN COMPLETED, 
    PRESS DATA KEY ON REMOTE DATA SET MODEM TO 
    DISCONNECT. POWER OFF PMP AND REMOTE DATA 
    SET MODEM.  
    						
    							Preventive Maintenance 
    CHECK VISUAL INDICATORS AND DEVICE STATUS TABLE (CMC-800) REGULARLY TO 
    DETERMINE SYSTEM OPERATING STATUS. 
    DO NOT OBSTRUCT AIR FLOW AT TOP OF SYSTEM CABINET OR POWER SUPPLY. KEEP 
    FOREIGN PARTICLES AND LIQUIDS FROM ENTERING VENTILATION HOLES. 
    KEEP ALL GROUNDING, POWER, AND INTERFACE CABLES DRESSED AND FREE FOR 
    EASY ACCESS. 
    CLEAN HEADS ON PMP MICROCASSETTE TAPE DRIVE WITH DENATURED ALCOHOL 
    PRIOR TO LOADING OR SAVING OPERATIONS. I/O DEVICE ERROR CAN BE CAUSED BY 
    DIRTY TAPE HEADS. 
    AVOID STATIC ELECTRICITY DISCHARGES WHILE HANDLING PCB CARDS. 
    MICROPROCESSORS, PROM, RAM, AND OTHER MICROCIRCUITS CAN BE DAMAGED IF 
    FOLLOWING PROCEDURES ARE NOT IMPLEMENTED: 
    - GROUND YOURSELF TO CABINET WITH ANTI-STATIC WRIST STRAP DEVICE BEFORE 
    INSERTING OR REMOVING CARDS. 
    - SPRAY SYSTEM CABINET AREA AND CARD STORAGE SURFACES WITH ANTI-STATIC 
    SPRAY. 
    - NEVER TOUCH GOLD-PLATED CONNECTORS OR COMPONENTS. 
    - USE EJECTOR TABS WHEN REMOVING CARDS FROM SLOTS AND HANDLE CARDS BY 
    EDGES ONLY. 
    - ELIMINATE STATIC PRODUCING MATERIALS (CELLOPHONE, STYROFOAM, ETC.) 
    FROM CABINET AREA. 
    - STORE UNUSED CARDS IN ANTI-STATIC BAGS. 
    - TURN POWER OFF WHEN INSTALLING COMMON CONTROL OR RGEN CARDS. 
    IF BACKUP BATTERY CANNOT BE RECHARGED OR REPLACED IMMEDIATELY, SAVE 
    ODDB TO TAPE OR FLOPPY DISKETTE.
